Peter van Kets

We are so fortunate to be Peter van Kets, winner of the 2007/2008 Transatalantic Woodvale Rowing Challenge, CHARITY OF CHOICE.

Peter is planning on rowing across the Atlantic solo this year. and leaves on 5 December 2009 from the Canary Islands, planning to reach Antigua, an incredible 5000km later.

The Tiger Wheel & Tyre Kite Festival

Without a doubt ,one of the most fun events of our year is the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Kite Festival held annually in aid of the Centre. With Kiting experts from around the country, giant kites, workshops, live music and kiddies’ area- this has become one of highlights of the social calendar!		  
     
 

Adopting a child

The Adopt a Child programme offers donors a chance to sponsor a specific individual during their time at the Centre. Not only does this provide opportunity for our more vulnerable children to receive a chance at reaching their full potential, but it also helps relieve the financial burden borne by the Centre. A variety of options exists including :

Full Annual Bursary :
R8800 per annum or R800 per month for 11 months

Half Bursary:
R4400 per annum or R400 per month for 11 months

School stationery & Outings Bursary:
R2200 per annum or R200 per month

Donors can either make a once off payment or contact us to enquire about our debit order forms. Regular updates on the child’s progress will then be posted to the donor.

Becoming a friend

For less than the price of a burger, chips and coke once a month, you can become a Friend of the Carel du Toit Centre. Friends are regularly updated on events relating to the Centre and are invited to support any fundraising venture we undertake. You can assist us by speaking to your friends about our needs and by making others aware of the Centre and its work. Become a Friend today for only R30 per month.

Joining our supper club

Invite a group of friends around for a meal. You decide on the time and type of meal - contact us and we will supply you with a CD and pamphlets featuring information about our children and the work we do. Then collect a donation for us from those present. It’s as simple as that!

Donating clothes or goods

The Centre holds regular Jumble Sales which are advertised in the neighbourhood and at the hospital next door.

 
 

These have proved very popular and much haggling over goods occurs with people being delighted by various finds!

Becoming a volunteer

the Centre is always looking for people to donate their time for various fundraising initiatives such as our annual street collection and Kite Festival, or simply to interact with the children; reading stories, playing outside with them or helping them learn a new song!
